TAI T625 Gokbey Specs, Engine, Cockpit, and Price – The TAI T625 is a twin-engine multirole helicopter that is being developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) for the Turkish Armed Forces. The helicopter is designed according to aviation standards set by the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) and the Turkish Civil Aviation Directorate General (SHGM). The T625 helicopter can be used in a variety of operations / missions including search and rescue (SAR), troop / cargo transportation, utilities, VIPs, shipping of goods, and medical evacuation.
Turkey's Undersecretariat for the Defense Industry (SSM) signed a contract with TAI in September 2013, to develop original lightweight multi-mission helicopters to meet the requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces general-purpose helicopters and civilian authorities. A T625 prototype was launched at the International Defense Industry Exhibition held in May 2017. TAI T625 made its first flight on 6 September 2018 and serial production is expected to begin in 2021.
The TAI T625 helicopter is operated by two crew members and can accommodate up to 12 passengers in its spacious cabin, which can be configured to meet various mission requirements. The baggage compartment volume is 1.1m³. The helicopter is equipped with a retractable type landing gear and can make a safe landing in uneven terrain conditions.
The TAI T625 helicopter has a maximum speed of 306 km / h and a 6,096 m service ceiling. The helicopter is equipped with a standard fuel tank with a capacity of 1,020 kg, so that the helicopter can cover a distance of more than 740 km and last up to 3 hours 48 minutes. An external fuel tank with a capacity of 280 kg can also be installed on a helicopter and will increase helicopter endurance by up to 5 hours with a range of 948 km.
TAI T625 helicopters can operate in bad climatic conditions, high altitudes and high temperatures both during the day and at night. The helicopter is designed to meet Category-A standards, so that it can operate safely in the event of a single engine failure.
It also incorporates a dual redundant, four-axis, double redundant automatic flight control system to improve helicopter stability and handling, while reducing pilot workload. It is also capable of performing instrument flight rules (IFR) and single pilot operations of visual flight rules (VFR).
