Airbus HIL H160M Guepard Specs, Cockpit, and Price – The H160M Guepard is a medium-sized lifting helicopter being developed by Airbus Helicopters for the French Armed Forces, under the Joint Light Helicopter (Hélicoptère Interarmées Léger - HIL) program. The H160M helicopter is intended to be used by the French Army, Navy and Air Force to carry out several missions including command infiltration, air interception, fire suppression, and anti-surface warfare.
H160M is the military version of the medium-H160 utility helicopter, which was first launched at the Heli-Expo exhibition held in Orlando, Florida, USA, in March 2015. Based on the civil platform, the H160M will ensure simplified maintenance and reduced operating costs rather than generation rotorcraft long in class. The H160M scale model is on display at the 2018 Euronaval exhibition held in October 2018, while a full scale model is exhibited during the 2019 Paris Air Show.
The H160M helicopter can be quickly reconfigured to carry out missions ranging from command infiltration to air intercept, fire prevention, anti-ship warfare, search and rescue operations, and transport of modern military equipment.
The helicopter will also display the main rotor hub without Spheriflex bearings, which are designed to minimize weight and optimize damage tolerance. The main rotor will have a diameter of 13.4m. The tail assembly will include Fenestron's tilted anti-torque tail rotor.
The H160M helicopter will feature a three-wheeled landing gear with a nose unit and two main units. The nose wheel will be equipped with twin wheels, while the main unit will be installed with a single wheel unit.
The power plant will reduce fuel consumption by 15% compared to its peers and will also improve the performance of the load range from H160M. The time between overhauls (TBO) from Safran Arrano machines is 5,000 hours.
The program will involve sending a total of 169 helicopters to three armed forces. The French Army will receive 80 helicopters, while the navy and air will receive 49 and 40 rotorcraft, respectively.

Airbus H160M Guepard Engine
The Guepard H160 helicopter will be powered by two Safran Arrano turboshaft engines supplied by Safran Helicopter Engine. The engine will feature a two-stage centrifugal compressor, a backflow combustion chamber and a one-stage power turbine. It is expected to produce a maximum power output of 1,300 hp.The power plant will reduce fuel consumption by 15% compared to its peers and will also improve the performance of the load range from H160M. The time between overhauls (TBO) from Safran Arrano machines is 5,000 hours.
Airbus H160M Guepard Cockpit and Avionics
The H160M cockpit will accommodate up to two crew members. The FlytX avionics suite from Thales will equip the H160M Guepard helicopter. FlytX is based on the avionics concept which consists of an intuitive touch screen interface designed by pilots for pilots. The technology used on FlytX is designed to reduce the pilot's workload, so that they can focus on their mission goals in every decisive moment.Airbus H160M Guepard Weapons System
This helicopter can be armed with the MBDA Sea Venom (ANL) anti-ship missile to carry out anti-ship war missions. Missiles above the horizon can involve targets within 20 km.Airbus H160M Guepard Price and Orders
