Ambulance variants, police helicopters, firefighters and rescue have been developed for the Moscow Government departments. A number of variants have been developed for gas field support operations for Gazprom.
Advantages of the performance of Kamov Ka-226T helicopters when working from bases high above sea level and in mountainous areas, are 5,000 m high dynamic ceilings and 2,000 m static ceilings. This helicopter has an age of 18,000 hours with a scheduled service life of 25 years.
The main characteristic of Kamov Ka-226T is a coaxial contra rotating rotor, which makes it easy to fly and maneuver. The helicopter also has no tail rotor, thus eliminating the threat of tail rotor accidents.
The Kamov Ka-226T landing gear consists of one main rear wheel unit mounted under the stub wing and two front wheel units mounted under the nose. The landing gear cannot be pulled, but it has oleopneumatic shock absorbers and pneumatic brakes.
To optimize the performance of each engine, the Kamov Ka-226T is equipped with a main fuel tank having a capacity of 770l. Two optional external tanks provide 320l of additional fuel. Engine air intake is equipped with a hot air cleaning system. De-icing systems include alcohol-de-icer windshields, electric de-icer for pitot tubes, and electrothermal de-icing for rotor blades.
This helicopter has shown long-term flight and low fuel consumption, important performance parameters for patrol and rescue operations. The main 770l capacity fuel tank provides 4.24 hour flight durability. With the auxiliary tank 320l, this is increased to 6.45 hours.
The navigation suite can include the Bendix / King KN53 instrument landing system, the KR87 automatic direction finder, the LCR 92 (AHRS) laser attitude heading reference system and the KLN90B global positioning system. With the instruments, displays, controls and night vision equipment, Kamov Ka-226T can fly at night safely. The helicopter is equipped with weather reconnaissance radar and thermal imaging systems for night patrol, reconnaissance and search operations.
The space on the back of the flight deck is equipped with a cargo compartment or pod that can be replaced quickly and can be mounted. This allows quick installation of standard or special accommodations and mission equipment. The ambulance version of the helicopter pod accommodates two stretched patients, two sitting patients, and one medical personnel. For the rescue mission, the pod accommodates six victims of stretchers.
Cargo pods can also be equipped for passenger transportation with individual energy absorbing seats, mixed cargo and passengers or special cargo transportation. Kit kits for kit kits, rescue, and medical packages suspended from the right side of the helicopter. The cargo pod can be equipped with a winch ramp.
The Kamov Ka-226T helicopter can also be operated without a passenger pod and with an open volume between the main landing gear equipped with cargo or cable nets for draped loads. The maximum underslung load is 1,300 kg.
